Observatory Sciences provide introductory and advanced training courses for groups using, or considering using, EPICS. Our expert team of trainers have years of EPICS experience and have provided EPICS training for numerous scientific projects around the world. These include: the Isaac Newton Group (Canary Islands), the UK Astronomy Technology Centre, the University of Durham, Daresbury Laboratory, Diamond Light Source, the Australian Synchrotron Project, GANIL and ITER (France), the Australian SKA Pathfinder and Gemini Observatory Chile.
Our training courses can be tailored to your specifications in terms of both duration and content, and delivered either on-site or on-line with remote attendance at times to suit you. Courses include extensive ‘hands-on’ training to provide practical experience of EPICS software, which we believe is essential when learning EPICS. Our dedicated trainers are always on-hand to answer questions and provide support throughout the course. You will also be given access to all of the training material, examples, exercises, and solutions for your future reference.
An example schedule for a 3-day introductory EPICS course is shown below. Additional topics can be included as required, and typically a full developers’ course lasts for 4.5 days and includes training on commonly used EPICS frameworks such as AreaDetector.
